After my last blog post, I decided to write about lacking motivation. That was six months ago. It speaks for itself, really.
In my last blog post, I commented that I probably shouldn’t give careers advice to high school students. About a week later, I got an email asking me to give careers advice to high school students.
We associate the word “laboratory” with beakers and test tubes filled with pretty, colourful liquids. I think a more appropriate symbol would be a handwritten note saying something like “OUT OF ORDER”, “DO NOT TOUCH ON PAIN OF DEATH” or “A PIGEON HAS ESCAPED I AM TRYING TO CATCH IT PLEASE DON’T OPEN THE DOOR.”
Research is not a recipe. Research is trying to make a cake when all you have are peanuts, sugar and ham, and the oven is on fire.
